Who are Finlay’s Friends?

Finlay’s Friends is a charitable organisation (Charity number SC046675) set up in memory of Finlay Bennett, of Touch Primary School Dunfermline, who died suddenly on the 30th July 2014 from Meningitis at the Yorkhill Children’s Hospital, now the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. Finlay was only 8 years old but in his short life he had always put the needs of others before himself. To honour his kindness and to support other families who experience similar situations to Finlay’s family, Finlay’s Friends aims to provide support when it is most needed.

What we do

Finlay’s Friends provides Comfort Kits to families of seriously ill children admitted to hospital in an emergency. Following the success of our partnership with the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow who cared for Finlay, we have since extended our support to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh and NHS Fife - Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. Our long term plan is for Finlay’s Friends to support all Scottish Hospitals that need us.

How?

With your help, Finlay’s Friends will continue a wide range of fundraising activities and will work with other charitable organisations and businesses in order to fund the supply of Comfort Kits and additional support to families in crisis.
